Chartres Labyrinth Facilitator Training
The Chartres Labyrinth was developed in Christendom and the motif is unique to Holy Mother Church. While the Classical or Cretan labyrinth is found in several cultures, the Chartres design reflects the typology of medieval Catholic art. Observe from the overlay of the labyrinth on the icon of Christos Pantakrator, that the cross bars of the crucifix in the halo of the icon are reflected in the design of the labyrinth. Note that when the pilgrim has reached the exact center point of the labyrinth, he finds himself allegorically at the mind's eye of the Christ, a place of great love, peace, joy, forgiveness, healing and discernment. Christ is the light of the world. See the flames of the corona on the edge of his halo echoed in the cusps around the circumference of the labyrinth.
