School Labyrinths
Besides being a body prayer, a walking meditation, and a potential spiritual experience when taken in a religious context, another dimension of the Chartres Labyrinth for schools is to provide a balancing for the student leading to improved concentration in the classroom. This field of educational kinesiology is described on the web page for BRAIN GYM http://www.braingym.org On Maui we are blessed with the services of Karen "Freesia" Peterson and her organization. GIVING BACK is a six year old Hawaii non-profit 501 (c) 3 agency, committed to fostering intergenerational relationships through mentoring and tutoring, enhancing the individual lives of both generations and benefiting our communities. Children grow their reading, learning, inter-personal skills, and their self-esteem. Senior citizens 'give back' their love and wisdom, while receiving connection, fun, and a sense of community involvement in return. Giving Back's mission is to create vibrant and vital opportunties for elders to 'give back' to their neighborhoods and communities.
